Koshna Single-Source Lakadong Turmeric
Koshna Single-Source Lakadong Turmeric
Koshna is a San Diego women-owned business, partnering directly with small-scale farmers in India to ethically source single-farm, same-season spices.
Koshna sources a rare, indigenous turmeric variety from West Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya. This turmeric features an earthy, musky, and floral aroma, intercropped with ginger, potatoes, black pepper, and native oranges, giving it a bright, bold flavor with mild pungency and notes of ginger and honey.
Its striking yellow to orange hue comes from a high curcumin content of 7.68%, ideal for both culinary and medicinal uses. It pairs well with curries, stews, rice, salad dressings, white chocolate, marinades, teas, lattes, smoothies, and more.
The unique terroir of Umnari, with its dark acidic soil, cool climate, and abundant rainfall, enhances its potency, which would be lost if grown elsewhere.
- Origin: Umnari, Meghalaya
