Job Title: Sunday Shopkeeper

Job Description: We are seeking a friendly and customer-oriented Sunday Shopkeeper to join our team at Home Ec. As a Sales Associate, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, offering educated product recommendations, ensuring store cleanliness and organization, and handling various point-of-sale (POS) and cash register operations. Your primary focus will be on assisting customers and maintaining a positive shopping experience.

Responsibilities:

• Greet customers warmly and assist them with their shopping needs.
• Provide knowledgeable and personalized product recommendations based on customer preferences and needs.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the store, including shelving, displays, and backstock areas.
• Operate the POS system and cash register accurately for seamless transactions.
• Stay up to date with product knowledge, including features, benefits, and usage tips. (We do a lot of education and provide samples whenever possible.)
• Handle customer inquiries, requests, and returns in a professional and courteous manner, both in-store and through our digital channels, including Google Voice texting and Instagram DMs.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure a smooth workflow and efficient store operations.
• Assist with inventory management, including receiving, restocking, and conducting regular stock checks.
• Contribute to creating an inviting and joyful store environment for customers and fellow team members.

Qualifications:

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and assist customers effectively.
• A friendly and approachable demeanor that promotes a positive shopping experience.
• Strong interest in food, cooking, and the products we carry at Home Ec.
• Timeliness and reliability to ensure punctuality and consistent availability for scheduled shifts.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Previous retail experience is not required, as we believe this is a completely teachable skill to someone who is interested in learning.
• Social media experience would be appreciated, but not required.

Availability:

• Candidates should be available regularly on Sundays for a 10-5 shift.
• Flexibility to occasionally cover shifts on other days with advanced notice is also strongly desired.

Salary:

• The offered compensation for this position is between $18-20 per hour, depending on experience and responsibilities.

Starting Training Date: The selected candidate will begin training by September 10 or earlier, to ensure ample time for a smooth transition into the role.

First Solo Shift: The hired employee's first solo shift will be on Sunday, September 24, where they will have the opportunity to apply their training and showcase their skills independently.
