I won't get too reflective today, on the year anniversary of COVID-19 impacting our shop and our lives, but I WILL say holy shit - it's been a year. On this day last year we "postponed" a pasta workshop that we were really looking forward to and began wondering if we would need to cancel our 1 year anniversary party, which was scheduled for April 1, 2020.
I don't need to remind you what happened next but I am indescribably grateful that we are still open, still in our space that we love so much, still sending newsletters, and still actually having fun. While I don't know when we'll make and eat pasta together again, I can at least start to imagine what that might look like and it will be so fun.
The last 12 months have crushed and shuttered many small businesses, disproportionately effecting those which are Black and minority-owned. The pandemic in general has had a much harsher effect on BIPOC communities and there is still opportunity to help.
In honor of this milestone and with gratitude that we are still here, Home Ec is donating to We All We Got SD today, a BIPOC-centered mutual aid fund in San Diego. If you have the means to donate, we ask that you join us in donating whatever amount you can.
